Sitting with the River- Santa Cruz River Park (south of 29th St/Silverlake)
April 9 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

During this spring season, the flowers are blooming, and the river is flowing. Share your time this day with the sacred river of this land, and show respect to it/her/them. You will receive a pouch of plant offerings, and bring a plastic bag (and gloves) if you want to help pick up some garbage.
This sacred river on O’odham land has had a flow of water between 29th and 22nd street almost continuously since a year ago last February. Willows and young cottonwood sprouts have already appeared. Coyotes, Rabbits, Birds and other species are present (and well fed with the greenery).
*[The Santa Cruz River Heritage project](https://www.tucsonaz.gov/water/SCRHP) describes the scene this way:*
*The Santa Cruz River Heritage Project is an excellent example of how Tucson Water continues to ensure reliable water resources for our community. The project adds up to 2.8 million gallons of treated recycled water daily (3,150 acre feet a year) to the Santa Cruz River at a point south of downtown near the heart of the city. This added water brings perennial flow to this portion of the river, fostering abundant native vegetation and wildlife.*
Join us as we acknowledge the water flow that now assists the healing of this too long dry riverbed. We meet in the parking area (see below for specific spot to meet) and at 5:05 we will walk down into the river bed to get a close look and offer gratitude. We will stroll/meander on the walk above, and down along the river at a gentle pace towards 29th. On the way back, anyone who wants to can pick up some trash for the trash bin by the parking. We will bring small bags.
**Please wear walking shoes and take care of yourself with the weather.**
***We will meet in the parking lot of the Santa Cruz River Park on the EAST side of the river. Turn south on Santa Cruz Lane and see us under the ramada at the parking lot. The river is a short walk away (walking down a cement slope and into the riverbed is part of it. Or, you can stay above the river on the riverwalk. Please take care of yourself.* See map below. Text Quynn at 520=954-2004 if you cannot find us.**
