Fire of the Gentle Thorn- End of Year Burning Circle-SW Tucson
December 29 @ 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm
Join us for this ritual of clearing, letting go and release around a fire. We honor the obstacles in our path that may turn out to be agents of timely course correction.
With the thorn of the barrel cactus we honor and invoke this realization. The barrel cactus has a unique thorn that is curved at the end of its main thorn bundle. It resembles the neck of a bird as it rests in the hand. It is easy to pick up and admire. Beneath this long curved one are several sharp spiky pokers. The barrel cactus offers warning before a puncture. Watch where you are going is the message.
When barrel cactus die from drought and old age, it collapses into itself leaving only a mound of thorns. We hold these thorns before the fire and ask that we understand our obstacles in their fullest before we offer them to the fire. The setting for this ritual is inspiring as we shift our view from the fire to the city lights below.
The location is outside a private home looking out over the city. Arrival time is while there is still daylight. We will be in the southwest corner of Tucson, Mission and Ajo area. Reach out to Quynn for exact directions. Dress warmly and bring a chair.
