Power and Protection Prayer Circle in Tucson w/ help from Elder Flower
April 5 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

On this day of protests happening all over the country, we will gather to pray for benevolent power and protection for all who need it. We will share our prayers with each other, hold space for those more vulnerable than us, and ask the plant called Elder* for its help by praying with fresh flowers, dried flowers, and drinking Elderflower tea grown by Hawko/Jacob. We will close with a round of rhythm and inner contemplation regarding what is most needed for each of us, and all in our communities.
**The Elder tree of berry fame is found thru out the temperate world. In arizona is the blue mexican berry, in europe and eastern america is the black berry and thru out asia is the red berry. This tree is favored by birds and small mammals. The flowers are nourishing to the bees. Elderberries have been utilized in traditional folk medicine for thousands of years. In European folklore, elderberry consumption was associated with increased longevity and vigor. It is thought the name elder comes from the Anglo-Saxon ‘aeld’, meaning fire, because the hollow stems were used as bellows to blow air into the centre of a fire. The elder tree has a reputation as a good listener and advisor to those who honor it. The flowers make a refreshing adaptagen rich sun tea. The berries have a long history of being an effective anti-viral for respiratory distress. These restorative trees are some of the first responders after forest fires.*
Bring a rhythm making instrument if you have one, or we have one to share.
