Decolonizing Minds-Restoring Animist Hearts-Anti-Racist* Healing Circle

December 7, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

*Being Anti-Racist is based on the conscious efforts and actions to provide equitable opportunities for all people on an individual and systemic level.

This circle is designed for self identified white or white passing people, yet all are welcome who are ready to see the colonized matrixes of systemic racism, monotheism and patriarchy within us that cause harm. The caring intent of this circle is not to “call out” but to “call ourselves in” for acknowledging trauma and adapting to be helpful now.

As we remember our place in the circle of sacred humanity we learn to see the tendrils of Colonized Mind within our thoughts, beliefs and actions. As Animists, Earth honoring and sensitive people, we sense how everyone is connected, and the connection extends beyond Humanity. Healing and Justice are intertwined.

1-Quynn opens the circle with a prayer to the ancestors of the land where we are, and a prayer for healing and protection for all who need it most.
2-Quynn will share a selected reading or recording from a black or indigenous scholar, poet or artist to offer a focus for self-reflection and sharing.
3-A time (approx 10) for self-reflection will be offered, with drum, rattle or other sound will be the background. An area of focus could be your relationship with privilege, regret, repair, separation, ancestral healing, or wounding received or death could be pondered. One can use the time to write, meditate or “journey” to explore the subject.
4-Optional sharing
5-Closing the circle with a prayer of gratitude.

All levels of understanding are welcome. The only prerequisite is having an open heart and mind.

Donations support We Are Done Dying Campaign from the NAACP.
