As Animists and Earth honoring People, we cannot move forward in an Animist movement until we specifically and consciously address the ways in which we have been colonized in our minds. This circle offers an opportunity to address the ways in which our colonized minds hurt us and our culture. Through rhythm, intention, and sacrd contemplation, we seek to heal our internalized bias, racism wielded and experienced, and for those who are considered “white”, White Privilege.

As Animists and Earth honoring People, we sense how everyone is connected, and the connection extends beyond Humanity. WE are the Earth and the Earth is US. As colonization spread across the planet, it brought many wounds, falsehoods, and lies to our ancestors. Over the generations, our DNA, Minds, and Souls have absorbed colonized ideas about every aspect of life, including “domestication”, time, gender, nature, sexuality, “history”, “race”, and on it goes.

Learning to see the tendrils of Colonized Mind (which includes white, male and human supremacy) within our thoughts, beliefs and actions, helps us remember our place in the circle of sacred humanity. Not doing so continues to inflict systemic and personal harm on our Black and Brown family members.

The structure of this circle is as follows:
-Quynn opens the sacred circle with a prayer to the ancestors of the land where we are, and a prayer of protection,w specifically for all black and brown people.
-A reading of wisdom from a black or indigenous scholar, poet or artist to offer a focus for our inquiry and healing journey. Additional learning is suggested.
-You will have the opportunity to journey within/meditate on the prompt while listening to Quynn’s drum (you can have silence or drum for yourself if preferred). New to journeying? Quynn can help.
-Structured sharing for those who want to do so.
-Closing the circle with a prayer for protection for those who are in harms way for peaceful protest, and gratitude for the ancestors who fought for justice.

This circle is structured for safety in an Anti-Racist setting. All levels of understanding are welcome. The only prerequisite is having an open heart and mind, and a willingness to CHECK OUR DEFENSIVENESS.
